I'm even being doughnut-gal!!! (See icon)
Anyway, I know I've been missing from active LJ participation for many, many months. I've not posted a thing that wasn't a meme, a few and far between chapter, or most recently my little dragon obsession. I'm gonna try and change that.
Life is, as always, insane. If I can work up the nerve, eventually I'll grouse about it here, but in the mean time, I've family photos to share with y'all.
Meet: Chloe

Chloe was a one month old Tuxedo kitten found in the park across the street from where I live by my elder's friend, Nikki, last October. Since she had 4 cats of her own, I got to foster Chloe until she was given a clean bill of health from the vet.
Unfortunately, it turned out that Chloe must have picked up or eaten a fly, which in turn, laid an egg in her upper gums, and had to have a living maggot removed. Blech.
A little dropper force-feeding and we thought we'd be in the clear. Oh no, of course not. Poor little gal was diagnosed with feline leukemia, and we spent the next month in and out of the vet's office, until finally the kindest things we could do was have her put to sleep. Further details are unnecessary. Needless to say, I have her picture on my dresser in a place of honor. *sniffs* Rest in Peace, Chloe. Your life may have been short, but you touched many people.
Meet: Tigger and Minx

It seems as if little Chloe softened the heart of my elder, and on April 26th, he surprised me by bringing home two of the most adorable 9 week old kitties! HIS! he declared. MINE! I silently vowed. And guess who cares for them all day, and does their litter and feeds them, and medicates them when they're sick, and so on and so forth? Me, of course, as it was in the beginning with Ringo and Juliet, it is now, 16 years later with Tigger and Minx.
They've helped to lower my blood pressure, and keep what little sanity I possess. One of the few spots of pure sunshine in my life these days. And yes, they are constantly cuddled up to one another, unless they're fighting over who gets what catnip filled toy. **grins**

Melissa and the Grandbabies

Avery, 9 1/2 yrs ~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~ Kayla, 4 yrs ~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~ Stephen, 7 yrs
These guys are my pride and joy. And growing up so fast, too. This photoshoot was one of the more inventive I've ever seen for school photos. Way less boring than what most of us sat through as kidlets. I found the results impressive.
I give Melissa a lot of credit as a mama... her kids haven't had it easy over the past year or so, yet they've all come through with flying colors. Heart issues, broken bones, brain surgery... I have a lot to be thankful for in regards to my extended family.

Well, there you have it - whilst the post isn't exactly about me, it is about me. I really needed to break the ice that had formed around my journal, and we'll see if I can get a more life-issues post up in the next few days.
Been here skulking in silence, but reading and enjoying all fic and personal posts. And dragons! Let's not forget about my new obsession.

Date: 2008-10-11 08:03 pm (UTC)Tigger is a pretty spotted tabby cat, and Minx is a just an adorable color point short haired. She will probably get darker as she ages. Is she pretty talkative ? I know I have always loved siamese mixes, even though they can be quite insane.

Date: 2008-10-11 11:05 pm (UTC)Tigger talks, as well - I wonder if the mother was Siamese and he just hides it better.

Date: 2008-10-11 08:14 pm (UTC)Your tigger looks like mine (the first photo) but when he was just a little kitten.
They are both soooooooooo cute :))
As are your kids there; yes, the photos are special. Not so 'boring normal' like the ones we had made.
Glad to hear you're good.

Date: 2009-02-24 09:19 pm (UTC)i have just read your heart-rending story about your kitten chloe.
I have just lost my own tuxedo kitten called Socks (7 months old).
I dont use this site, but reading your story makes me think that i can relate to you.
I am completely heart broken over losing my Socks (i got him nutured & there must have been a complication as he developed what we now realise as acute renal failure.) I cant really talk to anyone else anymore as they all think im crazy-loving a kitten so much (he was like my 'baby' !)
I was just wondering if you could give me any advice on how to cope. Im finding it really hard to deal with losing my baby Socks. Any help would be grateful!

Re: Chloe
Date: 2009-02-24 09:58 pm (UTC)Of course, having two new kitties in the house eases the pain (especially since they look nothing at all like Chloe). They don't replace her, but they help the place seem a little less empty.
Chloe and Socks passed away far too soon, and while it hurts like hell, with any luck, we'll both outlive several more pets in our lifetimes. Love as many as you can for as long as you can. They fill our lives with unabashed love.
**hugshugshugs** again.

Date: 2009-02-26 12:47 am (UTC)thanks for the reply. Your reply made me cry-it was a very nice reply! Thanks!
-Trying to deal with it!It is very very hard!
Everyone has a special boyfriend in their life or a special pet.Socks to me was my special, no, perfect pet.The pain just doesnt want to stop!
I just feel its more harder to get over Socks then it was other pets that ive had.The 7 month kitten ive just been given just feels like im cheating on Socks. I just cant seem to let myself care 4 this 1.I keep comparing it 2 Socks, which isnt fair, but i do it anyway.
Im sori 2 bother u, or sound like a complete sado, but im just finding it easier talking to u, as uve been there & felt how im feeling. Can u offer sum advice on the other cat? I dont want to reject it, but i am. life just seems quite sad now! I just miss Socks
